Advanced Computer Programming - Assignments / Objectives

Welcome to a new year!!!Students will be introduced to the class, cover the Patriot Ways, and meet their substitute teacher Mr. Sloan.
Tuesday - 8-28-12
You will receive your classroom Syllabus (a handout).  This document will cover the class details, my contact/conference information, the classroom rules and expectations, and the computer lab rules. Together in class, you will cover the Syllabus. Take the syllabus home and have the last sheet (Syllabus Agreement) signed and returned back to Mr. Sloan by Friday - 8-31-12.
Wednesday/Thursday - BLOCK DAY
 8-29-12 / 8-30-12

You will LOG-ON to the computers with your student Log-ins:
* Username: Student ID#
* Password: Student ID#

WEBSITE INTRODUCTION:  You will logon to www.johnsonsclassroom.com to visit your online classroom. This is the classroom website where you will access in the beginning of class everyday. You will access your 
* Classroom Warm-Up Questions (Bell Ringers)
* Daily Assignments
* Take Tests and Quizes

Advanced Computer Programming Assignment #1
*Open MS Word.
*Type your name and 6th period at the top of the paper.
*Title the paper "Advanced Programming - Assignment #1"
*Write the following 5 questions down on your sheet and answer each question in complete sentences for Mrs. Johnson to review.
*This will be a daily grade and each question is worth 20 pts (question and formal answer).
* When you are done, print one copy and turn it in to the tray.

Question 1:  Why did you decide to enroll into the Advanced class of Computer Programming?

Question 2: What do you hope to gain from this class come the end of the school year?

Question 3: Some of you may not  have programmed in months, while others may not have programming in the past year (depending on when you took the first year of Computer Programming). What skill do you remember the most from the first year of Programming?
   
I want your opinion on the Technology of Cloud Computing, (example Apples  "i Cloud").
Cloud computing is the use of internet-based services to support business processes; an example is storing information through the internet. Before making the decision to move a business in to ‘the cloud‘, make sure you weigh the pros and cons of cloud computing.

Students will open
to page 19 in the "Computer Fundamentals" textbook (purple textbook). This page
shows Section 1A Summary Review. 

Step  2: Open the software Microsoft Word. Turn to the student next to you and help them locate MS Word on their desktop.
(The logo image of MS Word is shown below; locate it on your computers desktop).

Step 3: In WORD,  Type your First and Last name.  Press Enter twice. Then type the title "Section
1A Review" and Press Enter twice again.

Step 4: Using your skills recently practiced in class, begin TYPING the summary on page 19. 
Type all 23 important points. It is important to have these notes accurately typed as you will see these again on a test. Read each carefully as you type  them.

Step 5: At the end of the period.
SAVE this file as: Section 1A Review Summary  to your My Documents. Do
not print.
